McDonald's Japan Unveils 3 New "Crunchy Juicy" Chicken Burgers

McDonald's Company (Japan), Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Thomas Kou) will launch regular sales of new, carefully crafted chicken products using whole chicken thigh meat, perfected after a five-year development period. Three types of burgers—"Crunchy Juicy Mac," "Spicy Crunchy Juicy Mac," and "Teriyaki Chicken Juicy Mac"—along with the side item "Crunchy Juicy Thigh Chicken," plus Night Mac® exclusive items "Double Crunchy Juicy Mac," "Double Spicy Crunchy Juicy Mac," and "Double Teriyaki Chicken Juicy Mac," will debut as regular menu items at McDonald's stores nationwide starting Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Additionally, side item "Shaka Shaka Potatoes® Addictive Black Pepper" and drinks "McFizz® / McFloat® Whole Squeezed Lemonade" (*using 1% lemon juice) will also be available for a limited time starting the same day.

To coincide with the product release, a new TV commercial featuring Hiroshi Abe (one of the famous Japanese actors) in his first McDonald's commercial appearance will air starting Tuesday, October 20. Set to an arranged melody of "Gakuen Tengoku," it depicts Mr. Abe and a crowd chanting "Crunchy-Crunch-Crunch, Juicy!" together. Furthermore, for the side menu item "Crunchy Juicy Thigh Chicken," a new TV commercial featuring Maika Sasaki from =LOVE appearing alongside Mr. Abe, showing them smiling at the deliciousness of the chicken, will air starting Tuesday, October 27. Additionally, various promotions such as X (formerly Twitter) campaigns are also prepared for customers to enjoy.

As new regular menu items, three types of burgers and one side menu item will debut, wrapping juicy whole chicken thigh meat in a specially designed wavy batter to achieve a crunchy texture and satisfying eating experience. "Crunchy Juicy Mac" is an item paired with rich tartar sauce featuring coarse-grain mustard flavor accented by black pepper, where customers can also enjoy the texture of diced onions. "Spicy Crunchy Juicy Mac" features a savory spicy sauce with chili pepper and garlic flavor.

"Teriyaki Chicken Juicy Mac" combines a sweet and rich teriyaki sauce flavored with ginger and garlic with a sweet lemon sauce, making it McDonald's only "Fried x Teriyaki" burger with a substantial bite. "Crunchy Juicy Thigh Chicken" is an addictive side menu item featuring a crunchy batter texture seasoned with savory onion and garlic notes along with black pepper and other spices.

Furthermore, available exclusively after 5:00 PM for Night Mac, "Double Crunchy Juicy Mac," "Double Spicy Crunchy Juicy Mac," and "Double Teriyaki Chicken Juicy Mac" will also make their appearance. Additionally, "Shaka Shaka Potatoes Addictive Black Pepper," appearing for a limited time, offers an addictive flavor by adding a sharp black pepper accent and beef savory umami to French Fries®. The limited-time drinks feature whole-squeezed lemon juice, appearing in two varieties: "McFizz Whole Squeezed Lemonade," offering a fruity, crisp acidity and lemonade sweetness, and "McFloat Whole Squeezed Lemonade," topped with smooth soft-serve ice cream (*each using 1% lemon juice).

Furthermore, "Crunchy Juicy Mac" will join the lineup of "Hirumac®*," a value lunch set available on weekday lunchtimes (10:30 AM – 2:00 PM). The Value Set® for "Crunchy Juicy Mac" will be offered at a discount of 90 yen off the standard counter price for a great value of 650 yen (tax included).
