"Onigiri Konga Yokohama Main Store" Opens June 14
A new branch of the onigiri specialty store, "Onigiri Konga," will open on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in "ASOBUILD," directly connected to Yokohama Station.
After training at a long-established onigiri specialty store with queues of up to three hours, founder Masanobu Goda struck out on his own, opening the first "Onigiri Konga" in Kamata on November 29, 2021. Since then, the brand has expanded nationwide to locations including Akasaka Biz Tower, Haneda Airport Terminals 2 and 3, Kamakura, Nagoya, and Kobe Motomachi. The "Onigiri Konga Yokohama Main Store" will be its ninth location.

"ASOBUILD" is filled with popular spots for all ages, from children to adults, including the indoor kids' theme park "Hapipi Land," the crane game specialty store "Kurehapi," and the large-scale XR entertainment facility "IMMERSIVE JOURNEY." The first-floor gourmet street, "Asobuild Yokocho," features many famous restaurants and bustles with families, especially on weekends.

We use Koshihikari rice from Iwafune, Niigata Prefecture, known for its rich aroma, moderate sweetness, and refreshing stickiness. After cooking, the rice is spread out in a banju (shallow wooden tray) to let the steam escape, resulting in a firm, non-watery texture.

We offer over 25 types of onigiri fillings. In addition to standard fillings like salmon, plum, and shiso kombu, we have many unique options such as "Jako Nama Shichimi" (young sardines with fresh seven-spice blend), "Mentaiko Cream Cheese," and "Soy-Marinated Egg Yolk."

Our most distinctive feature is that our certified artisans form the onigiri right in front of you after you order. The onigiri, made before your eyes, are as large as those in old folktales. To avoid crushing the rice, they are formed gently and quickly, making them lighter to eat than they appear. When you take a bite, you can enjoy a fluffy texture as each grain of rice seems to unravel in your mouth.
